Creative Card Workshop

I just love crafting with friends in The Crafty Shed.  Today, a group of crafty gals and I got inky making four gorgeous cards.  Here are the four cards we made as well as the ingredients used to create each of them. :)

Lollydoodle Herringbone-style Card

I have been wanting to try a Herringbone card for some time after seeing the same technique used by fellow consultant Christine Woodward to create gorgeous cards and scrapbooking layouts.  These cards really are very easy to make and a great way to use up your left-over paper scraps.  Cut your paper into 1/2 inch strips and keep them in zip-lock bags so you can make one (or more) whenever you like.

Ingredients:

White Daisy Card Base
4” x 5 ¼” Hollyhock Cardstock
3 ¾” x 5” White Cardstock
½” strips of Lollydoodle paper and coordinating cardstock (e.g. Sorbet, Lagoon, Cotton Candy, Pear, etc)
White Fancy Rectangle (Art Philosophy, Cut 1 Rectangle7, 1.75”, p.55)
Cotton Candy Fancy Rectangle  (Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, Cut 1 Rectangle7@ 2”, p. 55)
Cocoa Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
Give a Lift Stamp Set

The card above is a variation on the original Herringbone Card featuring a landscape orientation.  I'm not sure which one I like the best!

Celebrate Male Card

Everyone is always looking for card designs for those special males in their lives.  This simple card design can be used for numerous occasions including birthdays, graduations, a new job or promotion. The use of three coordinating strips of paper and cardstock is a simple way to create a colourful and interesting background on any card design.  Using embossing on plain cardstock also adds texture to the finished card.

Ingredients:

Colonial White Card Base
2 strips of 1 11/16” x 4” Timberline paper
1 strip of 1 11/16” x 4” Chocolate Cardstock
June Stamp of the Month- Kaboom Stamp Set
Chocolate Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
Twilight Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
Baker’s Twine

Pretty in Pink Overlay Card

Close To My Heart Consultant Carolyn Porter recently shared a gorgeous card featuring an overlay on Facebook and I instantly fell in love with it!  I knew I had to make my own version and I knew my crafty friends would love it too! This card is also another terrific way to use up your paper scraps.  The overlay that features on this card has been cut from the Cricut Artbooking Cartridge and has been resized to 4 inches.  The size of the finished card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.

Ingredients:

5.5” x 11” White Daisy Cardstock
5” x 5” Pear Cardstock
4.5” x 4.5” White Daisy Cardstock

Layer-upon-Layer Birthday Card

This was another style of card that I have been wanting to try for a while.  I've seen cards using this simple but effective technique all over Pinterest and Facebook and wanted to try it for myself.  I do love the layered look created through the stamping of multiple layers of card stock and through the double matting.
